The Garnett Police Department would no longer pick up stray dogs or cats during non-business hours, weekends, or holidays. Normal business hours are established as M-F 7:30A-5:30P. Citizens shall be given notice of the change in procedure when they are given live traps and instructions the traps can only be set during approved hours/days. If an animal is trapped during non-business hours, it is the citizens responsibility to care for the animal until approved hours, based on the fact they left the trap active during non-business hours.
The Garnett Police Department would still respond to animal calls 24/7 if they are vicious, causing property damage, injured, or animals that are caught by a citizen with City of Garnett pet tags attached where an owner can be identified.
